General Data Protection Regulation (AVG)
As of 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) is applicable. The AVG replaces the Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp). The introduction of the AVG means that from 25 May 2018, the same privacy legislation will apply throughout the European Union.
The AVG aims to ensure the protection of personal data and sets out how organisations should handle personal data.
What is personal data?
Personal data includes any information about an identified or identifiable natural person. This information must be able to directly or indirectly (by means of inference) lead to the identification of a natural person.

Special personal data:

- Health
- Trade union membership
- Criminal behaviour
- Genetic data
- Biometric data

What is meant by processing personal data?
